2024 Quarter Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?

2024 Quarter Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?

The 2024 American Women Quarters come in five distinct reverse designs, three mints and multiple finishes. Guide estimates for the versions covered here range from about $0.61 at MS60 for common business strikes up to $25.00 at PR65 for certain silver proofs.

Your coin's actual position in that spread depends on its specific mint, reverse design, condition and whether it is a regular strike, clad proof or silver proof.

Fast Way to Identify Your 2024 Quarter

The quickest way to start sorting out what you have is to upload clear photos of the front and back of your 2024 quarter. That gives us enough to make a preliminary identification of the mint, reverse design and finish type.

Snap both sides in even lighting, and avoid glare so the mintmark and design details come through clearly.

Which 2024 Quarter Versions Are Worth Money?

  • S-mint silver proofs for Zitkala-Sa, Patsy Takemoto Mink and Dr. Mary Edwards Walker each carry a guide estimate of $25.00 at PR65, the highest listed values in this year's set.
  • S-mint clad proofs for the same designs carry guide estimates around $5.63 at PR65, well above face value but far below the silver versions.
  • S-mint uncirculated business strikes are listed around $3.62 at MS65 across all five designs, a small premium over Philadelphia and Denver issues.
  • Confirmed die errors such as doubled dies, die cracks and struck-through varieties on any 2024 design can add value depending on visibility, condition and authentication.

Step 1: Identify Your 2024 Quarter Mint Mark and Version

2024 Quarter: Mint & Version Guide with all listed versions and genuine identifying details

2024 American Women Quarters version comparison

Start with the obverse. Laura Gardin Fraser's right-facing Washington portrait appears on every 2024 quarter, with LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST in the field.

Look near Washington's portrait for the mintmark: P for Philadelphia, D for Denver or S for San Francisco.

Flip the coin. The reverse tells you which of the five designs you have: Rev.

Dr. Pauli Murray, Patsy Takemoto Mink, Dr.

Mary Edwards Walker, Celia Cruz or Zitkala-Sa. Each portrait is distinct, so a side-by-side comparison with reference images settles it fast.

An S mintmark alone does not mean proof. San Francisco produced regular business-strike collector issues as well as clad proofs and silver proofs.

To separate the three, check the fields: proofs show mirror-like reflective surfaces with frosted raised devices, while business strikes have a satin or cartwheel luster.

Clad proofs and silver proofs look similar from the front. The edge of a clad coin shows a visible copper-colored stripe sandwiched between the outer layers.

A .999 silver proof has a uniform silver-colored edge and weighs about 6.343 grams versus the standard 5.67 grams. Original Mint packaging also confirms composition.

Do not confuse a reverse design date or commemorative reference with the coin's issue year. The date on the obverse is what matters for identification.

And remember, the proof finish is a manufacturing method, not a grade above Mint State.

Step 2: Check Your 2024 Quarter Grade

2024 American Women Quarters numeric grading guide

Focus on Washington's cheek and the hair detail just above the ear. On a well-preserved business strike, those areas show full, rounded contour with unbroken luster.

As the coin circulates, the cheek flattens first and the hair strands merge.

On the reverse, high-relief portrait elements wear next. Compare your coin's detail against the reference image to gauge where it falls.

For proofs, grade is mostly about surface preservation. Look at the mirror fields under angled light for hairlines, haze or fingerprint residue.

A proof with clean fields and strong contrast between frosted devices and reflective background grades higher than one with scattered marks.

Don't confuse a weak strike with wear. A coin fresh from the Mint can still have soft detail in high-relief spots if the dies didn't fully impress the planchet.

Luster helps you tell the difference: a weakly struck but uncirculated coin retains its original cartwheel sheen, while a worn coin loses it on the high points.

Step 3: Check 2024 Quarter Value by Mint and Version

2024 Quarter — P — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — regular strike

2024 Quarter Coin — P — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

This is the Philadelphia-mint regular strike with the Rev. Dr.

Pauli Murray reverse. It is copper-nickel clad over a copper core, 24.26 mm in diameter and nominally 5.67 grams.

Look for the P mintmark on the obverse and match the reverse portrait to Murray.

Worn examples trade near face value. The value of a high-grade example depends on its authenticated condition and whether any recognized error is present.

Compare yours to known examples at the same grade before drawing conclusions.

2024 Quarter — D — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — regular strike

2024 Quarter Coin — D — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The Denver-mint Rev. Dr.

Pauli Murray quarter shares the same copper-nickel clad composition and specifications as the Philadelphia version. The difference is the D mintmark on the obverse.

As with the P-mint, circulated examples are worth face value. Pristine uncirculated coins require individual assessment based on authenticated grade, because small differences in bag marks and luster can shift the outcome.

2024 Quarter — S — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — regular strike

2024 Quarter Coin — S — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

San Francisco also struck a non-proof business-strike version of the Rev. Dr.

Pauli Murray quarter. The S mintmark alone does not make it a proof.

Check the fields: this version has regular luster, not the mirror-like finish of a proof.

It is copper-nickel clad, same weight and diameter as P and D issues. Value depends on condition and authenticated identity.

Do not assume a premium just from the S mintmark without confirming the strike type.

2024 Quarter — S — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — clad proof

2024 Quarter Coin — S — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — clad proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The S-mint clad proof of the Rev. Dr.

Pauli Murray quarter is a collector issue with mirror fields and frosted devices. It is copper-nickel clad, not silver, so check the edge for the telltale copper stripe and confirm the standard 5.67-gram weight.

Keep clad proof and silver proof values completely separate. Value for this version requires individual assessment by authenticated condition.

Original Mint packaging helps confirm the clad composition if you still have it.

2024 Quarter — S — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — silver proof

2024 Quarter Coin — S — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — silver proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The silver proof version of the Rev. Dr.

Pauli Murray quarter is struck in .999 silver at San Francisco, weighing approximately 6.343 grams. The edge is uniformly silver-colored with no copper stripe visible.

This version shares the same mirror-field, frosted-device proof appearance as the clad proof, so weight or packaging is the reliable separator. Value depends on authenticated condition and the specific coin's surface quality.

Keep this distinct from the clad proof in any comparison.

2024 Quarter — P — Patsy Takemoto Mink — regular strike

P — Patsy Takemoto Mink — regular strike real specimen with date & mint, reverse design closeups

The 2024 P Patsy Takemoto Mink quarter is a standard copper-nickel clad business strike from Philadelphia. Confirm the P mintmark and match the reverse portrait to Mink.

A USA Coin Book guide estimate places this version at about $0.61 in MS60 condition and $1.24 in MS65. These are retail guide figures, not guaranteed offers.

Circulated examples are worth face value. A clean, original-luster coin in the MS65 range carries a small collector premium.

Denver's Patsy Takemoto Mink quarter is identical in composition and design to the Philadelphia issue, distinguished only by the D mintmark. The same USA Coin Book guide estimates apply: roughly $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65.

If yours shows any wear on Washington's cheek or the reverse high points, it is a face-value coin. Only well-preserved, original-surface examples reach the guide figures listed above.

2024 Quarter — S — Patsy Takemoto Mink — regular strike

S — Patsy Takemoto Mink — regular strike real specimen with date & mint, reverse design closeups

The S-mint uncirculated Patsy Takemoto Mink quarter is a business-strike collector issue, not a proof. It is copper-nickel clad, same specs as P and D versions, but carries a slightly higher guide estimate of about $3.62 at MS65 per USA Coin Book.

That small premium reflects the collector-market packaging and lower typical availability compared to the mass-produced Philadelphia and Denver runs. Verify the non-proof luster before applying this value.

2024 Quarter — S — Patsy Takemoto Mink — clad proof

The clad proof Patsy Takemoto Mink quarter from San Francisco features mirror fields and frosted devices on a copper-nickel clad planchet. USA Coin Book lists a guide estimate of about $5.63 at PR65.

Confirm composition by checking the edge for the copper stripe or weighing the coin at 5.67 grams. This is not the silver proof; mixing up the two leads to a tenfold pricing mistake.

Hairline-free fields push this version toward higher grades and potentially higher value.

2024 Quarter — S — Patsy Takemoto Mink — silver proof

S — Patsy Takemoto Mink — silver proof real specimen with date & mint, reverse design closeups

The silver proof Patsy Takemoto Mink quarter is struck in .999 silver at San Francisco, weighing about 6.343 grams with a uniformly silver edge. USA Coin Book places this version at roughly $25.00 in PR65.

That is the highest guide figure among the Patsy Takemoto Mink versions at the listed grade. The premium comes from the precious-metal content and the proof finish together.

Confirm silver composition with weight or original packaging before applying this estimate, since clad proofs look nearly identical from the face.

D — Dr. Mary Edwards Walker — regular strike real specimen with 2024 date, d mint mark, dr. mary edwards walker closeups

The Denver-mint Dr. Mary Edwards Walker quarter shares identical composition and dimensions with the Philadelphia issue, differentiated by the D mintmark.

Guide estimates from USA Coin Book are the same: roughly $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65.

If you pulled this from circulation, it is almost certainly worth twenty-five cents. Uncirculated examples with full luster and minimal contact marks are the ones that carry the small collector premium.

It has regular luster on a copper-nickel clad planchet. USA Coin Book lists a guide estimate of about $3.62 at MS65.

2024 Quarter — S — Dr. Mary Edwards Walker — clad proof

2024 Quarter Coin — S — Dr. Mary Edwards Walker — clad proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The clad proof Dr. Mary Edwards Walker quarter from San Francisco has mirror fields and frosted raised devices on a copper-nickel clad planchet.

The guide estimate from USA Coin Book is about $5.63 at PR65.

Check the edge for the copper stripe or weigh the coin to rule out the silver proof. Surface quality matters here: hairlines and haze in the fields reduce the grade and the value.

Handle proofs by the edges only.

2024 Quarter — S — Dr. Mary Edwards Walker — silver proof

2024 Quarter Coin — S — Dr. Mary Edwards Walker — silver proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The silver proof Dr. Mary Edwards Walker quarter is .999 silver, struck at San Francisco, weighing approximately 6.343 grams.

USA Coin Book estimates this version at about $25.00 in PR65, tying it with other 2024 silver proofs at that grade.

The uniform silver edge and heavier weight distinguish it from the clad proof. Original Mint packaging is the easiest confirmation.

Surface preservation drives the grade; even light haze on the mirror fields can knock it down a notch.

2024 Quarter — D — Celia Cruz — regular strike

D — Celia Cruz — regular strike real specimen with 2024 date, d mint mark, celia cruz closeups

Denver's Celia Cruz quarter mirrors the Philadelphia version in every way except mintmark. Look for the D on the obverse.

Guide estimates from USA Coin Book match the P-mint: roughly $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65.

The same grading logic applies. Wear on Washington's cheek or the reverse high points drops this to a face-value coin.

Full luster and a mark-free surface are the ticket.

2024 Quarter — S — Celia Cruz — regular strike

S — Celia Cruz — regular strike real specimen with 2024 date, s mint mark, https://www.ebay.com/itm/176611594805 closeups

The S-mint uncirculated Celia Cruz quarter is a non-proof business strike from San Francisco, copper-nickel clad. USA Coin Book lists a guide estimate of about $3.62 at MS65.

Do not mistake this for a proof just because it carries an S mintmark. The surfaces show cartwheel luster rather than mirror fields.

That slight premium over the P and D versions reflects its collector-market distribution.

S — Zitkala-Sa — regular strike real specimen with 2024 date, s mint mark, https://www.ebay.com/itm/196664019690 closeups

The S-mint uncirculated Zitkala-Sa quarter is a business strike, not a proof, despite the San Francisco mintmark. It is copper-nickel clad with the same 5.67-gram weight.

USA Coin Book lists a guide estimate of about $3.62 at MS65.

The premium over P and D issues is small but consistent across the 2024 designs. Confirm the non-proof finish by checking for regular luster rather than mirror fields before applying this estimate.

2024 Quarter — S — Zitkala-Sa — silver proof

S — Zitkala-Sa — silver proof real specimen with date & mint, reverse design closeups

The silver proof Zitkala-Sa quarter is .999 silver, struck at San Francisco, weighing about 6.343 grams. USA Coin Book places it at roughly $25.00 in PR65, matching the other 2024 silver proofs at that grade.

A uniform silver edge and the heavier weight set it apart from the clad proof. Original packaging is the simplest way to confirm composition.

Pristine mirror surfaces with strong device frosting are key to reaching the PR65 level.

2024 Quarter Error List

1. 2024 Quarter — Dr. Mary Edwards Walker — Doubled Die Reverse

A doubled die reverse has been reported on the 2024 Dr. Mary Edwards Walker quarter, described in collector sources as a "Medal of Honor" DDR observed on uncirculated and certified MS67 examples.

To check for this, compare your coin's reverse lettering and design contours side by side with a normal example under the same lighting.

Genuine doubling shows consistent separation or notching in the affected areas, repeating across multiple letters or design elements in the same direction. Machine doubling, by contrast, produces a flat shelf-like displacement without the rounded, raised secondary image of a true doubled die.

Reflections and lighting angles can also mimic doubling, so use a loupe at 5x to 10x magnification in steady light. Value depends on the visibility of the doubling, the coin's overall condition and professional authentication.

2. 2024 Quarter — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — Doubled Die Obverse

A doubled die obverse known as the "Fat Ear" DDO has been reported on the 2024 Rev. Dr.

Pauli Murray quarter, noted on uncirculated examples. The diagnostic involves comparing the obverse design elements, particularly around Washington's ear area, with a normal coin under identical lighting.

True hub doubling produces consistent separation or notching on the affected features, visible from multiple angles. Machine doubling looks different: a flat, shelf-like spreading with less distinct secondary relief.

Worn die contours or lighting reflections can also create the illusion of doubling when there is none. Use magnification and compare both coins in the same orientation before concluding anything.

Value depends on the degree of doubling, overall preservation and third-party authentication.

3. 2024 Quarter — Patsy Takemoto Mink — Die Crack / Die Chip

A die chip described as the "Tumor on Wrist" has been reported on uncirculated 2024 Patsy Takemoto Mink quarters. Die chips appear as small raised blobs of metal on the coin's surface, caused by a tiny piece of the die breaking away and leaving a void that fills with metal during striking.

To identify this, look for a raised bump near the wrist area of the design that does not appear on a normal coin. The blob should be raised above the surrounding surface, not incuse.

Incuse marks, scratches, corrosion or stuck foreign material can all mimic a die chip but leave a depression rather than a raised feature.

Also distinguish a die chip from a rim-connected cud, which is larger and touches the rim. Value depends on the chip's size, location, visibility and the coin's overall condition.

4. 2024 Quarter — Celia Cruz — Struck-Through Error

A struck-through error nicknamed the "Third Eye" has been reported on approximately uncirculated 2024 Celia Cruz quarters. A struck-through occurs when foreign material, such as grease, a thread or a metal fragment, gets trapped between the die and the planchet during striking, leaving a depression or obscured area on the finished coin.

Look for a localized depression or blocked area that does not follow normal design lines. A grease-filled die tends to create a smooth, undefined area, while a retained foreign object can leave a distinct impression with texture.

Do not confuse a struck-through with ordinary wear, cleaning scratches or a weakly struck area. Wear removes metal gradually and uniformly; a struck-through is a discrete, specific anomaly.

Value depends on the size and visibility of the obstruction, the coin's condition and whether the error is confirmed by a professional grading service.

5. 2024 Quarter — Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray — Clashed Dies

Die clashes have been reported on 2024 P Rev. Dr.

Pauli Murray quarters. A die clash happens when the obverse and reverse dies strike each other without a planchet between them, transferring ghost-like traces of one design onto the opposite die.

Those traces then appear on subsequently struck coins.

To spot a clash, look for faint outlines or partial design elements that do not belong on that side of the coin. The ghost images should align with the expected position of the opposing die's design.

Random scratches, raised lines from debris or brockage errors can look similar but lack the consistent alignment of a true clash. Examine under magnification with raking light.

Value depends on the clarity of the transferred design, overall condition and professional confirmation.

6. 2024 Quarter — Patsy Takemoto Mink — Missing Clad Layer

Missing clad layer errors have been reported on 2024 Patsy Takemoto Mink quarters. On a normal quarter, outer layers cover a copper core.

When one layer is missing or partially absent before striking, the affected face can show a distinctly different color and the coin weighs less than the standard 5.67 grams.

Check the edge first. A missing clad layer on one side often shows the copper core exposed on that face and a visible layer boundary at the rim.

Weigh the coin; a significant weight deficit supports the error.

Toning, environmental damage, corrosion or deliberate surface removal after minting can all create a similar look. The key difference is that a genuine missing clad layer error produces uniform exposure across the affected face and a measurable weight difference.

Value depends on how much of the layer is absent, the coin's condition and professional authentication.

7. 2024 Quarter — Patsy Takemoto Mink — Doubled Die Obverse

A doubled die obverse has been reported on 2024 P Patsy Takemoto Mink quarters. To check for this, compare obverse lettering and design elements under magnification against a normal example struck from the same mint.

Genuine hub doubling shows consistent directional separation or notching on multiple design features. Machine doubling, which is far more common, produces a flat, shelf-like displacement without rounded secondary relief.

Worn die contours and reflected light can also simulate doubling when viewed at certain angles.

Use steady, raking light and a loupe at 5x or higher. If the separation appears on several letters or features in the same direction and style, that supports a real doubled die.

Value depends on the degree of doubling, the coin's preservation and third-party authentication.

8. 2024 Quarter — Patsy Takemoto Mink — Off-Center Strike

Off-center strikes have been reported on 2024 P Patsy Takemoto Mink quarters. An off-center error means the planchet was not properly seated between the dies at the moment of striking, resulting in a displaced design and an unstruck crescent of blank metal along part of the rim.

The percentage of off-center displacement and whether the date remains visible are the two biggest factors collectors consider. A dramatic shift with a readable date is generally more desirable than a minor misalignment.

Do not confuse an off-center strike with a clipped planchet, a one-sided die misalignment or post-mint damage from being squeezed in machinery. A genuine off-center shows the full design simply shifted, with a clean unstruck area.

Value depends on the degree of displacement, date visibility, condition and professional verification.

9. 2024 Quarter — Patsy Takemoto Mink — Struck-Through Error

Struck-through errors have been reported on 2024 P Patsy Takemoto Mink quarters. A struck-through happens when debris, grease or a foreign object sits between the die and the planchet during the strike, leaving a localized depression or area of missing detail on the finished coin.

Look for a discrete, well-defined area where the design is incomplete or impressed with an unusual texture. A grease fill-in tends to produce a smooth undefined patch, while a retained object can leave a distinct shape.

Ordinary wear, cleaning marks and weak strikes from tired dies can all reduce detail, but they lack the sharp boundary of a struck-through. If your coin shows a specific, contained anomaly that interrupts the surrounding design, it may qualify.

Value depends on size, location, visibility and professional authentication.

10. 2024 Quarter — Patsy Takemoto Mink — Clashed Dies

Die clashes have been reported on 2024 Patsy Takemoto Mink quarters, sometimes noted alongside the "Tumor on Wrist" die chip. A clash occurs when the obverse and reverse dies hit each other without a planchet in between, transferring faint impressions of one side's design onto the other.

To identify a clash, look for subtle outlines or partial design elements that do not belong on the side you are examining. They should align with where the opposing die would have been positioned during impact.

Scratches, raised debris lines or brockage errors can look somewhat similar. The key difference is alignment: clash marks mirror the position of the opposing design elements precisely.

Value depends on the strength and visibility of the transferred image, the coin's condition and professional confirmation.

11. 2024 Quarter — Dr. Mary Edwards Walker — Struck-Through Error

A struck-through error has been reported on 2024 D Dr. Mary Edwards Walker quarters, with at least one collector discussion attempting to distinguish it from die wear.

A struck-through leaves a localized depression or area of missing design caused by material caught between the die and planchet at the moment of striking.

Look for a contained area where the design is incomplete or shows an unusual surface impression distinct from the surrounding normal detail. Die wear, by contrast, produces gradually weakening detail across broader areas of the die's high points.

Scratches, cleaning and ordinary circulation wear can also reduce detail, but they lack the specific contained boundary of a genuine struck-through. If you see a well-defined anomaly that interrupts an otherwise sharp design, it is worth examining more closely.

Value depends on clarity, size and authenticated condition.

12. 2024 Quarter — Celia Cruz — Die Crack / Die Chip

A major die crack has been reported on 2024 Celia Cruz quarters. Die cracks appear as raised lines on the coin's surface, formed when the steel die develops a fracture.

Metal flows into the crack during striking, producing a thin raised ridge that was not part of the original design.

To identify one, look for a raised line that runs across the design or connects two points, sometimes from the rim inward. A major crack is longer and more prominent than the typical hairline variety.

Incuse scratches, corrosion lines or foreign material can mimic a die crack, but those leave depressions rather than raised features. Run a fingernail across it: a genuine die crack feels raised.

Value depends on the crack's length, prominence, the coin's overall condition and professional confirmation.

13. 2024 Quarter — Celia Cruz — Die Break / Cud

A rim cud, sometimes called an edge blob, has been reported on 2024 Celia Cruz quarters. A cud forms when a section of the die near the rim breaks away entirely.

The void fills with metal during striking, leaving a raised, featureless lump connected to the rim where normal design detail is absent.

Look for a raised blob at the rim that displaces or replaces part of the adjacent design. It should merge smoothly into the rim rather than sitting on top of it like a deposit.

Rim dents from post-mint damage push metal inward and leave depressions. Corrosion can build up material but typically has a rough, porous texture.

An interior die chip not touching the rim is a different category. Value depends on the cud's size, position, the coin's condition and professional authentication.

14. 2024 Quarter — Patsy Takemoto Mink — Doubled Die Reverse

A doubled die reverse described as a "Doubled Earring" DDR has been reported on uncirculated 2024 Patsy Takemoto Mink quarters. The diagnostic involves comparing the reverse design, particularly around the earring area, with a normal coin under the same magnification and lighting.

True hub doubling creates consistent separation or notching on the affected design elements. You should see the secondary image on more than just one isolated spot, repeating in the same directional shift.

Machine doubling produces a flat shelf without rounded secondary relief. Reflections and random surface damage can also mimic doubling to the untrained eye.

Use a loupe at 5x to 10x and compare carefully. Value depends on the visibility of the doubling, the coin's preservation and confirmation by a professional grading service.

15. 2024 Quarter — Zitkala-Sa — Die Crack / Die Chip

Die chips described as "Singing Bird" die chips have been reported on 2024 Zitkala-Sa quarters, alongside other reverse die varieties. Die chips are small raised blobs of metal on the coin that result from tiny fragments breaking out of the die face.

To check for these, look for raised bumps that do not belong to the normal design. They should be raised above the surrounding field, not incuse.

The location and size of the chip distinguish it from ordinary design elements.

Incuse scratches, surface corrosion or stuck debris are common lookalikes. The raised nature of a genuine die chip is the key differentiator.

Also separate interior chips from rim-connected cuds, which are larger and touch the edge. Value depends on the chip's prominence, the coin's overall condition and professional verification.

16. 2024 Quarter — Celia Cruz — Lamination / Split Planchet

A lamination error has been reported on 2024 Celia Cruz quarters. Lamination errors occur when the planchet metal separates internally, often resulting in peeling, flaking or a retained flap of metal on one or both sides of the coin.

To identify this, look for a visible separation in the metal surface, an area where the outer layer is peeling away, or a thin flap that is still attached. Photograph both the affected face and the edge, since the edge often shows the separation layer clearly.

Post-mint scraping, deliberate cutting and corrosion can all produce surface damage that looks like a lamination. The key is that a genuine lamination follows the metal's internal structure rather than showing tool marks or environmental pitting.

Value depends on the severity of the separation, the coin's overall condition and professional authentication.

17. 2024 Quarter — Celia Cruz — Doubled Die

A doubled die error has been reported on 2024 Celia Cruz quarters. Without a specified obverse or reverse attribution, examine both sides for consistent directional separation or notching on design elements.

True hub doubling repeats in the same direction across multiple features. Compare your coin with a normal example under matched lighting and magnification.

The separation should be visible on letters, numerals or design contours, not just one isolated spot.

Machine doubling is far more common and shows a flat, shelf-like displacement. Light reflections and post-mint impressions from contact can also create false doubling.

Use a loupe at 5x or higher and rotate the coin to see if the apparent doubling persists from multiple angles. Value depends on the degree of doubling, which side is affected, the coin's condition and professional confirmation.

18. 2024 Quarter — Zitkala-Sa — Doubled Die Obverse

A doubled die obverse has been reported on 2024 P Zitkala-Sa quarters, noted in marketplace listings. To investigate, compare the obverse lettering and portrait details of your coin against a normal 2024 P Zitkala-Sa under the same magnification and lighting.

Genuine hub doubling produces consistent separation or notching visible on multiple design elements in the same directional shift. Machine doubling, far more common, leaves a flat shelf without rounded secondary relief.

Worn die contours can also blur details in ways that suggest doubling.

Marketplace listings do not substitute for professional authentication. If you see repeating separation across several obverse features, it is worth having the coin examined by a third-party grading service.

Value depends on the degree of doubling, overall preservation and confirmed attribution.

19. 2024 Quarter — Zitkala-Sa — Doubled Die Reverse

A doubled die reverse has been reported on 2024 P Zitkala-Sa quarters, mentioned alongside the doubled die obverse in marketplace listings. Check the reverse lettering and design contours under magnification, comparing against a normal coin from the same mint.

Look for consistent separation or notching that repeats across multiple reverse design elements in the same direction. If the doubling appears on only one letter or one small area, be cautious: that is more consistent with machine doubling or surface damage than a true hub doubled die.

Machine doubling, reflected light and random post-mint damage are common lookalikes. Value depends on the visibility and extent of the doubling, the coin's condition and professional authentication.

20. 2024 Quarter — Zitkala-Sa — Double / Multiple Strike

A possible multiple-strike error has been reported on 2024 P Zitkala-Sa quarters in marketplace listings. A true multiple strike means the coin was hit by the dies more than once, sometimes with the planchet shifting or rotating between impacts, creating two or more overlapping but displaced design impressions.

Look for separate, visibly offset impressions of the full design, not just thickened or spread letters. A genuine double strike shows distinct secondary design elements displaced from the primary strike.

A doubled die is a different error entirely: it results from a misaligned hub impression on the die itself, not from the coin being struck twice. Post-mint impressions from vise damage or machinery contact can also create misleading marks.

Value depends on the severity of displacement, the coin's condition and professional verification.
