2019 Quarter Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?

2019 Quarter Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?

The 2019 quarter belongs to the America the Beautiful series and comes in five different reverse designs, four mint marks, and multiple finishes. Guide estimates from USA Coin Book range from about $0.61 to $30.00 depending on the exact mint, reverse design, condition and finish.

That is not one price for every coin — a common Philadelphia Lowell quarter and a West Point War in the Pacific quarter sit at opposite ends of that span.

Fast Way to Identify Your 2019 Quarter

Upload clear photos of both the front and back of your 2019 quarter. The front photo lets us read the mintmark near Washington's portrait, while the back identifies which of the five reverse designs you have.

This preliminary identification from your images helps narrow down which version and price guide applies to your specific coin.

Which 2019 Quarter Versions Are Worth Money?

  • W mintmark quarters (Lowell, American Memorial, San Antonio Missions, War in the Pacific, Frank Church River of No Return) — these West Point circulation strikes were released in limited numbers and carry the highest guide values among business strikes.
  • W — Lowell regular strike: USA Coin Book guide estimate of $30.00 at MS65, versus $1.24 for a Philadelphia or Denver example at the same grade.
  • W — San Antonio Missions regular strike: also guided at $30.00 at MS65 — same premium over common-mint versions applies.
  • W — War in the Pacific regular strike: guided at $30.00 at MS65; same West Point scarcity factor as the other W-mint designs.
  • S — silver proofs (Lowell, American Memorial, San Antonio Missions, War in the Pacific): guided around $25.00 at PR65 due to .999 silver content and collector-only distribution.
  • Confirm the mintmark and finish before assuming you have a premium version — damage, cleaning, or bright surfaces do not make a coin rare.

Step 1: Identify Your 2019 Quarter Mint Mark and Version

2019 Quarter: Mint & Version Guide with all listed versions and genuine identifying details

2019 Washington America the Beautiful Quarters version comparison

Start on the obverse. Look just below "In God We Trust" near Washington's ponytail for the mintmark: P (Philadelphia), D (Denver), S (San Francisco) or W (West Point).

The W is the one everyone is hunting for.

Flip the coin over and identify the reverse design: Lowell, American Memorial, San Antonio Missions, War in the Pacific, or Frank Church River of No Return. Each design is distinct — arches, pillars, a beach landing scene, a salmon jumping rapids, or mill buildings.

Standard business-strike quarters are copper-nickel clad over a copper core, measuring 24.26 mm across and weighing about 5.67 grams. Silver proofs from 2019 are .999 fine silver and weigh approximately 6.343 grams — noticeably heavier than their clad counterparts.

To tell a clad proof from a silver proof, check the edge. A clad coin shows a visible copper-colored stripe; a silver proof edge is uniformly silver-gray.

Weight on a decent scale confirms it. Do not rely on color alone.

An S mintmark does not automatically mean proof. San Francisco also struck uncirculated business-style collector issues in 2019.

Look at the fields — proof coins have mirror-like reflective surfaces with frosted raised devices.

If any date appears in the reverse design itself, that is a commemorative or historical date, not the minting year. Your coin's issue year is on the obverse.

Also, this guide covers standard-size quarter dollars only; the five-ounce silver bullion versions sharing these designs are a completely different product with different values.

Step 2: Check Your 2019 Quarter Grade

2019 Washington America the Beautiful Quarters numeric grading guide

Focus on Washington's cheek first. On a well-circulated coin the cheek is flat and the hair above the ear loses its individual strand detail.

A coin with full cheek roundness and sharp hair lines is in much better shape.

On the reverse, check the highest-relief elements of whichever design you have — arched doorways, figures, fish, pillars. These wear first.

Luster matters as much as detail. A coin can have sharp design elements but dull, washed-out surfaces from cleaning or environmental damage.

Original mint luster has a cartwheel effect when you tilt the coin under a single light source.

For proofs, look at the mirror fields for hairlines and haze. Even light wiping leaves fine scratches visible under magnification.

A proof with clean, deep mirrors and fully frosted devices grades higher than one with cloudy or scratched fields.

Compare your coin side by side with the grading comparison image. A weak strike can leave soft detail on a coin that has never been circulated, so do not assume every soft area means wear.

The difference is that wear produces a flat, shiny spot, while a weak strike just shows less definition with the original surface texture intact.

Step 3: Check 2019 Quarter Value by Mint and Version

2019 Quarter — P — Lowell — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — P — Lowell — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-P Lowell quarter is a standard Philadelphia business strike in copper-nickel clad. Millions were produced, and worn examples generally trade at face value.

In higher grades, USA Coin Book estimates about $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65. Those are guide estimates, not guaranteed sale prices.

Look for the small P mintmark on the obverse and the Lowell mill buildings on the reverse to confirm this version.

2019 Quarter — D — Lowell — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — D — Lowell — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

Denver's 2019-D Lowell quarter is essentially the same coin as the Philadelphia version, just with a D mintmark. Circulated examples are worth 25 cents.

USA Coin Book guides this at $0.61 in MS60 and $1.24 in MS65. Unless your coin is in original, uncirculated condition with good luster, it is a spender.

Check that D mintmark carefully — it sits near Washington's portrait on the obverse.

2019 Quarter — S — Lowell — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — S — Lowell — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S Lowell business strike is a San Francisco collector issue, not a proof. The S mintmark alone does not make it a proof coin — you need to check the surface finish.

This version has a satin or business-strike surface rather than mirror fields. USA Coin Book guides it at $3.62 in MS65, a small premium over P and D examples because of lower production aimed at collectors.

2019 Quarter — W — Lowell — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — W — Lowell — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

Here is the one that gets people excited. The 2019-W Lowell quarter was struck at West Point and released into general circulation in limited quantities.

The W mintmark is an intentional production choice, not an error.

USA Coin Book estimates $30.00 at MS65 for this version. That premium exists because West Point struck far fewer quarters than Philadelphia or Denver, and collectors actively pulled them from circulation.

Confirm the W mintmark with magnification — a worn or damaged P can sometimes look odd but is not a W.

Coin Value Lookup is a good starting point if you want to look up guides for other coin years and denominations while you are sorting through your collection.

2019 Quarter — S — Lowell — clad proof

2019 Quarter Coin — S — Lowell — clad proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S Lowell clad proof was sold in San Francisco proof sets. It has mirror-like fields and frosted raised devices — that contrast is the hallmark of a proof finish.

This is copper-nickel clad, not silver. Check the edge for a visible copper-colored stripe.

USA Coin Book guides this at $5.63 in PR65. Keep clad proof and silver proof values separate when looking up prices, because they differ significantly.

2019 Quarter — S — Lowell — silver proof

2019 Quarter Coin — S — Lowell — silver proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S Lowell silver proof is struck in .999 fine silver and weighs approximately 6.343 grams — heavier than the 5.67-gram clad version. The edge will appear uniformly silver-gray with no copper stripe.

USA Coin Book estimates $25.00 at PR65. These came in the silver proof set from the U.S. Mint.

Original packaging helps confirm the composition if you have it, but a precise scale will also do the job.

2019 Quarter Coin — P — American Memorial — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-P American Memorial quarter shows the American Memorial Park design on its reverse and carries a P mintmark. Like other Philadelphia business strikes, circulated examples are worth face value.

USA Coin Book estimates $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65. Confirm both the mintmark and the correct reverse — the American Memorial design features distinctive pillars and a flag — before checking the price chart.

2019 Quarter Coin — D — American Memorial — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

Denver's version of the American Memorial quarter carries a D mintmark and the same copper-nickel clad composition. Worn coins spend for a quarter.

Guide estimates from USA Coin Book are $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65. High-grade uncirculated rolls sometimes turn up, but individual coins from circulation rarely justify a premium.

2019 Quarter — S — American Memorial — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — S — American Memorial — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S American Memorial business strike is a San Francisco collector issue with an S mintmark but no proof finish. The surfaces look like a normal business strike, not mirrored.

USA Coin Book guides this at $3.62 in MS65. It carries a slight premium over P and D versions because it was distributed through collector channels with lower quantities.

Do not confuse it with the proof version.

2019 Quarter — W — American Memorial — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — W — American Memorial — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-W American Memorial quarter is another West Point circulation rarity. The W mintmark was placed intentionally by the Mint to encourage coin collecting — it is not a mistake or a novelty.

USA Coin Book estimates $30.00 at MS65. Finding one in pocket change was the whole point of the program, so if you spot a W on your American Memorial quarter, set it aside carefully.

Handling and environmental damage can reduce the grade quickly on an otherwise pristine coin.

The 2019-S American Memorial clad proof has deep mirror fields and frosted design elements. It was included in San Francisco clad proof sets.

This is copper-nickel clad — check the edge for the telltale copper stripe. USA Coin Book estimates $5.63 at PR65.

Do not mix this up with the silver proof, which is worth considerably more at the same grade.

2019 Quarter — S — American Memorial — silver proof

2019 Quarter Coin — S — American Memorial — silver proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The silver proof version of the 2019-S American Memorial quarter is .999 fine silver, weighing roughly 6.343 grams. The edge shows no copper stripe — just solid silver-gray.

USA Coin Book guides this at $25.00 in PR65. It came in the 2019 silver proof set from the Mint.

If you have a proof American Memorial quarter and are unsure of the composition, weigh it: a clad proof is about 5.67 grams, while the silver is about 6.34 grams. That difference is easy to detect.

The 2019-P San Antonio Missions quarter features the San Antonio Missions reverse and a P mintmark. Standard copper-nickel clad, standard weight, standard Philadelphia production run.

USA Coin Book guides it at $0.61 in MS60 and $1.24 in MS65. Worn circulated examples are face value.

Confirm the reverse design — it depicts a doorway with Spanish colonial architecture — before comparing with the price chart.

2019 Quarter Coin — D — San Antonio Missions — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

Denver struck the same San Antonio Missions design with a D mintmark. As with all the common-mint business strikes, circulated coins trade at 25 cents.

USA Coin Book lists $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65. The only premium comes from original uncirculated condition with full luster.

Verify the mintmark and design match before you get too hopeful.

2019 Quarter Coin — S — San Antonio Missions — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S San Antonio Missions business strike is a San Francisco collector issue — not a proof, despite the S mintmark. The fields are not mirrored.

USA Coin Book guides this at $3.62 in MS65. It has a small collector premium because of limited distribution.

Make sure you are looking at the right version: if the fields are reflective and the devices are frosted, you have the proof instead.

2019 Quarter — W — San Antonio Missions — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — W — San Antonio Missions — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-W San Antonio Missions quarter is one of five West Point circulation releases from 2019. The W mintmark is a deliberate production feature, not a minting error.

USA Coin Book estimates $30.00 at MS65. These were mixed into regular circulation in limited numbers, making them an active search target for collectors.

If you think you found one, use magnification to confirm the letter is actually a W and not a worn or damaged P.

2019 Quarter — S — San Antonio Missions — clad proof

2019 Quarter Coin — S — San Antonio Missions — clad proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S San Antonio Missions clad proof came in San Francisco clad proof sets. Look for mirror fields and frosted raised details — that combination defines the proof finish.

Copper-nickel clad composition means you will see a copper stripe on the edge. USA Coin Book estimates $5.63 at PR65.

Keep this value separate from the silver proof, which uses a different alloy and carries a different price.

2019 Quarter — D — War in the Pacific — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — D — War in the Pacific — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

Denver's 2019-D War in the Pacific quarter is the same design and composition with a D mintmark. Circulated coins are worth a quarter.

USA Coin Book lists $0.61 at MS60 and $1.24 at MS65. Only uncirculated examples with clean surfaces and strong luster carry a modest premium.

The reverse design with the beach scene and palm tree identifies this as War in the Pacific.

2019 Quarter — S — War in the Pacific — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — S — War in the Pacific — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S War in the Pacific business strike comes from San Francisco but is not a proof. It has normal business-strike surfaces — no mirror fields.

USA Coin Book guides this at $3.62 in MS65. It was sold through Mint collector channels, not released into general circulation, which accounts for the small premium.

The S mintmark and non-proof finish together define this specific version.

2019 Quarter — W — War in the Pacific — regular strike

2019 Quarter Coin — W — War in the Pacific — regular strike, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-W War in the Pacific quarter is the West Point circulation release for this design. The W mintmark is intentional and signals a limited-production coin meant for collectors to find in change.

USA Coin Book estimates $30.00 at MS65. This version, along with the other four W-mint designs, was released directly into circulation.

Condition matters — a pristine example pulled early from a bank roll will grade much higher than one that spent months in a cash register.

2019 Quarter Coin — S — Frank Church River of No Return — clad proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S Frank Church River of No Return clad proof came in the San Francisco clad proof set. Mirror fields, frosted devices, and a copper-edged stripe identify this as a clad proof.

No specific guide estimate has been adopted for this version. Value will depend on the coin's individual condition — hairlines and haze on the mirror fields reduce the grade.

2019 Quarter — S — Frank Church River of No Return — silver proof

2019 Quarter Coin — S — Frank Church River of No Return — silver proof, obverse and reverse, with date and mint-location details

The 2019-S Frank Church River of No Return silver proof is struck in .999 fine silver at approximately 6.343 grams. The edge is solid silver-gray with no copper stripe.

No specific guide estimate has been adopted for this version. As with other silver proofs, condition drives value — clean mirrors and fully frosted devices are what collectors prefer.

2019 Quarter Error List

1. 2019 Quarter — Doubled Die Obverse

A doubled die obverse on 2019 quarters shows consistent doubling on obverse lettering or design elements. This is not random damage — true doubled die doubling appears as uniform separation or notching on letters, the date, or Washington's profile details.

Compare suspected doubling with a normal 2019 quarter under matching light and magnification. Machine doubling — a much more common occurrence — tends to produce a flat, shelf-like appearance rather than the rounded, separated look of a genuine doubled die.

Reflections, worn die contours, and strike anomalies can all mimic doubling at first glance. Condition, the strength of the visible doubling, and professional authentication all affect value.

No specific price has been adopted for this category.

2. 2019 Quarter — San Antonio Missions — Off-Center Strike

An off-center strike on the 2019 San Antonio Missions quarter occurs when the planchet is not properly seated in the collar during striking. The result is a displaced design with an unstruck crescent of blank metal along one edge.

The percentage of off-center displacement and whether the date remains visible are the two biggest factors collectors consider. A 5% off-center coin is a curiosity; a 50% off-center with a full date is genuinely scarce.

Do not confuse a clipped planchet, a die misalignment, or post-mint flattening with an off-center strike. A true off-center shows the entire design shifted uniformly in one direction.

Value depends on the degree of displacement, condition, and the specific coin's confirmation as a genuine mint error.

3. 2019 Quarter — San Antonio Missions — Doubled Die Reverse

A doubled die reverse has been reported on the 2019 San Antonio Missions quarter, alongside die chips. To check for this, compare your coin's reverse lettering and design contours with a known normal example under magnification.

Genuine doubled die reverses show consistent separation or notching in the affected design elements — the doubling repeats predictably across the die's impression. Machine doubling, by contrast, looks flat and shelf-like, and it appears as a mechanical artifact rather than a hub-impression shift.

Reflections, random damage, and post-mint impressions can all look like doubling to the untrained eye. Value depends on the strength and visibility of the doubling, the coin's overall condition, and whether the error has been professionally confirmed.

No specific price has been adopted.

4. 2019 Quarter — San Antonio Missions — Die Crack / Die Chip

Die cracks and die chips have been reported on the 2019 San Antonio Missions quarter. A die crack shows up as a raised line on the coin's surface — it follows the path of a crack in the steel die.

A die chip appears as a small raised blob where a piece of the die face broke away.

These are raised features, which distinguishes them from scratches or incuse marks that are pressed into the surface. Corrosion, foreign material adhering to the coin, and post-mint damage all sit lower than the surrounding surface.

An interior die chip is different from a rim-connected cud (which involves a larger die break). Value varies with size, location, and condition of the coin.

No specific price has been adopted for this category.

5. 2019 Quarter — American Memorial — Clipped Planchet

A clipped planchet error on the 2019 American Memorial quarter means a portion of the original metal blank was missing before the coin was struck. The clip can be curved (from an overlapping punch), straight, or irregular.

Look at the edge where the missing section is. A genuine clip often shows a distinctive blakesley effect — a weak area on the opposite side of the coin caused by reduced striking pressure.

The edge texture at the clip boundary should differ from a cut or filed surface.

Post-mint damage like edge cuts, filed notches, and corrosion can mimic a clip but will not produce the blakesley effect or correct metal flow patterns. Value depends on the clip size, visibility, and condition of the coin.

No specific price has been adopted.

6. 2019 Quarter — War in the Pacific — Missing Clad Layer

A missing clad layer error on the 2019 War in the Pacific quarter means one of the outer copper-nickel clad layers was absent before striking. The affected side may appear copper-red, and the coin should weigh under 5.5 grams — lighter than the normal 5.67-gram standard.

Compare the affected face, the edge profile, and the weight against a normal clad quarter. On a genuine missing-clad coin, the exposed copper core is uniform across the affected side, and the edge shows only one clad layer instead of two.

Toning, environmental corrosion, plating experiments, and surface metal removed after minting can all produce a copper-colored appearance. Weight is your best friend here — if the coin weighs a normal 5.67 grams and just looks coppery, the clad layer is still there.

No specific price has been adopted.

7. 2019 Quarter — Lowell — Doubled Die Reverse

A doubled die reverse has been reported on the 2019 Lowell quarter, described in collector sources as a "pump handle" type and associated with P-mint examples. This variety shows doubling on the reverse design elements.

To check, compare reverse lettering and design details of your coin against a normal example under good magnification. Genuine hub doubling produces rounded, separated design outlines, while machine doubling creates flat shelves.

Reflections, random surface marks, and worn dies can mimic doubling. Confirm you have a P-mint coin and examine the reverse carefully before concluding anything.

Value depends on the visibility of the doubling, overall coin condition, and professional confirmation. No specific price has been adopted for this variety.

8. 2019 Quarter — Lowell — Off-Center Strike

An off-center strike on the 2019 Lowell quarter results in a shifted design with a crescent of blank metal on one side. The coin was not properly aligned in the striking chamber.

Check whether the date is still visible — that significantly affects desirability. Also look for uniform design displacement rather than just one side appearing weak, which could indicate a different problem like a tilted die.

A clipped planchet removes metal from the blank before striking but the design is still centered. Post-mint flattening can move metal but leaves tooling marks.

Value depends on the percentage of off-center shift, date visibility, and condition. No specific price has been adopted.

9. 2019 Quarter — Lowell — Clipped Planchet

A clipped planchet on the 2019 Lowell quarter means a section of the blank was missing before the coin was struck. The missing area can be curved, straight, or ragged depending on what caused the incomplete blank.

Genuine clips show disrupted metal flow near the clip boundary and often a weak area on the opposite side of the coin (the blakesley effect). The edge at the clip will look different from the normal reeded edge.

Edge cuts, filed notches, and corrosion are post-mint alterations that will not produce the blakesley effect or the correct flow characteristics. Value depends on clip size, coin condition, and confirmation of the error.

No specific price has been adopted.

10. 2019 Quarter — Lowell — Broadstrike

A broadstrike on the 2019 Lowell quarter happens when the coin is struck without the normal collar that confines the metal and creates the reeded edge. The result is a coin that spreads outward, appearing slightly larger than normal with a smooth or distorted rim.

The full design is present but may reach closer to the edge than usual. The edge profile will look flat or rounded rather than showing crisp reeding.

This distinguishes it from an off-center strike, where the design is shifted and part of the blank is unstruck.

A coin flattened after minting by a machine or other pressure can mimic the spread but will show damage inconsistent with a single uniform strike. Value depends on how dramatic the spread is, the coin's condition, and authentication.

No specific price has been adopted.

11. 2019 Quarter — Lowell — Struck-Through Error

A struck-through error on the 2019 Lowell quarter occurs when foreign material — grease, a fragment of metal, cloth, or another object — sits between the die and the planchet during striking. The result is a localized depression, an impression of the object, or an area of incomplete design.

Grease-filled dies produce soft, shallow missing details (sometimes called grease strikes), while a retained foreign object can leave a more dramatic imprint. These two categories look quite different from each other.

Ordinary wear, cleaning scratches, and weak strikes from tired dies can all reduce detail, but they will not produce the sharp-edged, localized character of a struck-through impression. Value depends on size, clarity, and the specific foreign material involved.

12. 2019 Quarter — Lowell — Die Crack / Die Chip

Die cracks and die chips on the 2019 Lowell quarter appear as raised features on the coin surface. A crack is a thin raised line tracing the path of a fracture in the die; a chip is a small raised lump where a piece of the die face has broken away.

Because these originate in the die, they are raised above the coin surface — the opposite of a scratch or gouge, which is pressed into the metal. Corrosion deposits and adhesive residue can also sit above the surface, but they will not have the sharp, consistent profile of a die crack.

Small interior chips are relatively common and minor. Larger cracks or those in prominent locations draw more collector interest.

Value varies with size, placement, and condition. No specific price has been adopted.

13. 2019 Quarter — Lowell — Die Break / Cud

A die break or cud on the 2019 Lowell quarter is a more dramatic version of a die crack. A cud specifically connects to the rim — it is a raised, featureless blob where a chunk of the die broke away entirely, leaving no design detail in that area.

The cud's boundary will show where the die break ended and normal design resumes. The area within the cud is flat or slightly raised and blank.

This distinguishes it from an interior die chip, which is smaller and surrounded by intact design.

Rim dents from post-mint damage press inward rather than rising above the surface. Corrosion can build up at the rim but has a porous, uneven texture.

Value depends on cud size, location, and coin condition. No specific price has been adopted.

14. 2019 Quarter — Frank Church River of No Return — Die Crack / Die Chip

Die cracks and die chips have been reported on the 2019 Frank Church River of No Return quarter. On the coin, these appear as raised lines or small raised blobs — they are impressions of damage that occurred on the steel die, transferred to every coin struck from that die.

Raised is the key word. A scratch is pressed into the metal; a die crack sits above the surrounding surface.

Under magnification, a genuine die crack follows a consistent path and may appear on multiple coins from the same die.

Corrosion, adhesive residue, and foreign material on the coin surface can resemble raised features but lack the clean, defined profile of a die crack. Value depends on crack size, prominence, and coin condition.

15. 2019 Quarter — San Antonio Missions — Missing Clad Layer

A missing clad layer error on the 2019 San Antonio Missions quarter means the coin was struck on a planchet that was missing one of its outer copper-nickel layers. The affected side appears copper-colored, and the coin weighs less than the standard 5.67 grams.

Compare your coin's face color, edge profile, and weight against a normal quarter. A genuine missing-clad coin shows uniform copper exposure on one full face.

The edge will reveal one clad layer instead of two.

Toning, environmental damage, intentional plating removal, and corrosion can all make a coin look coppery without actually being an error. If the weight is normal, the clad layers are still there.

Value depends on how complete and dramatic the missing layer is, plus overall condition. No specific price has been adopted.

16. 2019 Quarter — War in the Pacific — Doubled Die

A doubled die has been reported on the 2019 War in the Pacific quarter from the S mint. This means the die itself received a doubled impression during its manufacture, and every coin struck from that die carries the same doubling.

Compare the reported doubled area with a normal coin. Genuine hub doubling shows consistent separation or notching in design elements — it repeats the same way on every affected coin.

Machine doubling, by contrast, produces flat, shelf-like distortion that varies from coin to coin.

Reflections and post-mint impressions can also mimic doubling. Confirm you have an S-mint coin before investigating further.

Value depends on the strength of the doubling, condition, and professional authentication. No specific price has been adopted.

17. 2019 Quarter — War in the Pacific — Die Crack / Die Chip

Die cracks and die chips have been reported on the 2019 War in the Pacific quarter from the S mint. These are raised features transferred from damage on the steel die to the struck coin.

A die crack appears as a raised line, often running between design elements or from the rim inward. A die chip is a small raised blob.

Both sit above the coin surface, unlike scratches or incuse marks.

Incuse scratches, corrosion buildup, and foreign material adhering to the coin can look superficially similar but lack the consistent, sharp-edged profile of a die-origin feature. Value depends on size, placement, and coin condition.

No specific price has been adopted for this category.

18. 2019 Quarter — War in the Pacific — Die Break / Cud

A die break or cud has been reported on the 2019 War in the Pacific quarter from the S mint. A cud is a raised, featureless area that connects to the rim, created when a section of the die breaks away completely.

The area within the cud shows no design detail — just a flat or slightly convex raised surface. The boundary where the cud meets intact design is usually sharp and traceable.

This distinguishes it from a smaller interior die chip, which is surrounded by normal design elements.

Rim dents are pressed inward; cuds rise outward. Corrosion at the rim has an irregular, porous texture.

Value depends on the cud's size, location on the design, and the coin's overall condition. No specific price has been adopted.

19. 2019 Quarter — War in the Pacific — Struck-Through Error

A struck-through error has been reported on the 2019 War in the Pacific quarter. This occurs when foreign material — grease, metal fragments, cloth fibers, or other debris — sits between the die and the planchet at the moment of striking, leaving a depression or impression on the finished coin.

Look for a localized area where the design is incomplete or impressed with an unusual texture. Grease fills produce broad, shallow missing detail, while a retained foreign object leaves a more defined imprint.

Normal wear, cleaning marks, and weak strikes can also reduce surface detail, but they will not produce the sharp boundaries and distinctive texture of a struck-through impression. Value depends on the size and clarity of the struck-through area, condition, and professional confirmation.
