2021 Sacagawea Dollar Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?
The 2021 Sacagawea Dollar — formally part of the Native American Dollar series — features a reverse honoring Native Americans in U.S. military service. Guide estimates for the various versions range from about $6.26 in MS65 up to $10.00 for a proof in PR65, depending on mint, finish and grade.
These are guide estimates from USA Coin Book, not guaranteed offers. Most circulated examples are worth face value, so the key is identifying your coin's mint, finish and edge position before drawing any conclusions.

Which 2021 Sacagawea Dollar Versions Are Worth Money?
- S-mint proof (PR65 guide: $10.00) — struck at San Francisco for collector sets, with mirrored fields and frosted devices.
- Do not pay premiums for ordinary wear, cleaning, plating, surface glare or unverified error claims on business strikes.
Step 1: Identify Your 2021 Sacagawea Dollar Mint Mark and Version

Since 2009, Sacagawea Dollars carry the date and mintmark on the lettered edge, not the obverse. Look for P (Philadelphia), D (Denver) or S (San Francisco).
The S-mint version is a proof struck for collector sets — do not confuse it with business strikes.
The coin's golden color comes from its manganese-brass clad composition (88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel at 8.10 grams). It contains zero gold.
If someone bought it in a silver proof set, the dollar itself is still manganese-brass; only the dimes and quarters in that set may be silver.
Edge lettering also includes a position marker. Position A means the obverse is right-side up when the edge inscription reads normally; Position B means the reverse is right-side up instead.
This creates two sub-varieties for each business-strike mint.
At Coin Value Lookup you can look up guides for this and other coin series to figure out which version you are holding before diving into values.
Step 2: Check Your 2021 Sacagawea Dollar Grade

Focus on Sacagawea's cheekbone, the fine strands of hair above her forehead, and the details on the child she carries. These are the first areas to show friction.
On the reverse, check the highest points of the military-themed design for any smoothing or contact marks.
Mint State coins should have unbroken luster across those high points. An AU piece will show just a trace of wear on the cheek and hair but still retain most of its original surface quality.
For the proof version, grading is about surface quality and contrast, not circulation wear. Compare your coin against a same-type example in the grading comparison image — matching finish to finish.
A business strike and a proof wear differently and should never be graded on the same scale.
Step 3: Check 2021 Sacagawea Dollar Value by Mint and Version
2021 Sacagawea Dollar — P — Native Americans in US military service — Position A

This is the Philadelphia mint business strike with edge lettering in Position A — meaning the obverse faces up when you read the incused text along the rim. At MS65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate sits at $6.26.
That is not much above face value, so condition matters. Look for a clean cheek, sharp hair detail and minimal bag marks to confirm a higher Mint State grade.
Identify the P mintmark on the edge before assuming this version.

2021 Sacagawea Dollar — P — Native Americans in US military service — Position B

Same Philadelphia mint, same design, but the edge lettering is oriented in Position B — the reverse is right-side up when you read the inscription. The MS65 guide estimate is also $6.26.
Position B is not rarer or more valuable than Position A for this date; both are standard production variants. If you are sorting rolls, checking edge orientation is a quick way to separate them, but neither commands a meaningful premium over the other.

2021 Sacagawea Dollar — D — Native Americans in US military service — Position A

Denver's Position A business strike mirrors the Philadelphia version in design and composition but carries a D mintmark on the edge. Guide estimate at MS65 is $6.26 per USA Coin Book.
Denver and Philadelphia strikes for this year are comparably available, so the mint distinction alone does not move the needle. The real driver is grade — a pristine, mark-free example in a high Mint State grade is where any extra value lives.

2021 Sacagawea Dollar — D — Native Americans in US military service — Position B

The Denver Position B variant has the reverse oriented upward when you read the edge lettering. Its MS65 guide value is $6.26, identical to Position A from the same mint.
As with Philadelphia, edge position is a cataloging distinction rather than a rarity factor for the 2021 date. Confirm the D mintmark and edge orientation, then focus on surface preservation if you are hoping to exceed face value.

2021 Sacagawea Dollar — S — Native Americans in US military service — proof

The 2021-S proof was struck at the San Francisco Mint exclusively for collector proof sets. It features deeply mirrored fields contrasting with frosted raised devices — that sharp, glassy look you cannot get from a business strike.
The PR65 guide estimate is $10.00 per USA Coin Book, making it the highest-valued version for this year at that grade level.
One common mistake: if you pulled this coin from a silver proof set, the dollar is still manganese-brass clad. Only certain other denominations in that set are struck in silver.
The S mintmark on the edge confirms the mint, and the proof finish should be obvious — if the fields are not mirror-like, you probably have a business strike that was well preserved, not an actual proof.
