2019 Dollar Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?
The 2019 American Innovation Dollar comes in four different state-themed reverse designs, three mint marks, and multiple finishes. That means a lot of branches to sort through.
Guide estimates for explicitly listed grades and versions run from about $7.29 at MS65 for business strikes up to $19.00 at PR65 for a specific proof issue. These are guide estimates from USA Coin Book, not guaranteed offers.
Before you assume your coin is special, identify the mint, finish, and reverse design.
Fast Way to Identify Your 2019 Dollar
Snap a clear photo of both sides of your 2019 dollar and upload them. The front shows the Statue of Liberty; the back will feature one of four state-specific designs.
A preliminary identification from your photos can help sort out which version you have. The edge lettering carries the date and mintmark, so a good edge photo helps too.

Which 2019 Dollar Versions Are Worth Money?
- S-mint Delaware (Annie Jump Cannon) proof lists at about $15.00 in PR65 per USA Coin Book guide estimates.
- S-mint Pennsylvania (Polio vaccine) proof lists at about $15.00 in PR65 per USA Coin Book guide estimates.
- S-mint New Jersey (Edison light bulb) proof lists at about $15.00 in PR65 per USA Coin Book guide estimates.
- S-mint Georgia (Trustees Garden) proof carries the highest listed guide estimate at about $19.00 in PR65.
- Reverse proof versions from the S mint exist for all four designs; value depends on authenticated identity and condition.
- Confirmed mint errors such as missing edge lettering or wrong planchet strikes can carry premiums above standard coins.
Step 1: Identify Your 2019 Dollar Mint Mark and Version

Start with the edge. The date, mintmark (P, D, or S), and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are incused into the edge lettering.
This is a manganese-brass clad coin weighing 8.10 grams.
The obverse is the same across all versions: the Statue of Liberty. Flip it over, and one of four state reverse designs tells you which coin you have.
Delaware shows Annie Jump Cannon with a stellar classification theme. Pennsylvania depicts the polio vaccine.
New Jersey features Edison's light bulb. Georgia honors Trustees Garden.
Edge-lettering orientation comes in Position A and Position B on business strikes from P and D mints. Both are normal manufacturing variations, not errors.
Do not let anyone charge extra for one over the other.
S-mint coins were struck as either standard proofs or reverse proofs. A standard proof has mirror-like flat fields with frosted raised devices.
A reverse proof flips that: frosted fields, mirrored devices. They look quite different side by side, and each has its own value.
Coin Value Lookup is a good starting point if you want to look up guides for this or other coin series. It can help you narrow down what you are holding before you dig deeper.
Step 2: Check Your 2019 Dollar Grade

For business strikes from Philadelphia or Denver, focus on Liberty's crown, face, and torch on the obverse. These are the highest-relief areas and show wear first.
On the reverse, check whatever the main design element is for your state: Cannon's portrait, the vaccine vial, the light bulb filament, or the garden vegetation.
A coin with full original luster and no post-mint contact marks beyond minor bag scuffs is solidly Mint State territory. Once you see flattening on the torch flame or Liberty's cheek, you are looking at AU or below.
Proof and reverse proof coins should be compared only against the same finish type. A proof with hairlines across those mirrored fields drops grade quickly, even though the devices may look perfect.
Use the comparison image to match your coin against circulated, AU, Mint State, and proof benchmarks for this exact type.
Step 3: Check 2019 Dollar Value by Mint and Version
2019 Dollar — P — DE: Annie Jump Cannon and stellar classification — Position A

This is a Philadelphia business strike with the Delaware reverse, showing Annie Jump Cannon and her stellar classification work. Edge lettering is in Position A orientation, which is one of two normal positions and not an error.
The manganese-brass clad composition gives it the golden color typical of the series. A USA Coin Book guide estimate places this at about $7.29 in MS65, though that is not a guaranteed offer.
Confirm the Delaware reverse design before comparing values.

Same Philadelphia Delaware coin as Position A, but with Position B edge-lettering orientation. The difference is simply which direction the incused text reads relative to the obverse.
Both are normal manufacturing variants. The guide estimate is the same: about $7.29 in MS65 per USA Coin Book.
Do not pay a premium for one position over the other.

2019 Dollar — S — DE: Annie Jump Cannon and stellar classification — proof

The San Francisco proof version of the Delaware Annie Jump Cannon dollar has mirror-like fields with frosted raised devices. This finish was produced for collectors and sold in proof sets, not released into circulation.
At PR65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate is about $15.00. That makes this one of the higher-value branches for the 2019 series among those with listed prices.
Look for the S mintmark on the edge and confirm the Delaware reverse before attributing this version.

2019 Dollar — S — DE: Annie Jump Cannon and stellar classification — reverse proof

This is the reverse proof of the Delaware Annie Jump Cannon dollar from the San Francisco mint. The finish inverts the standard proof contrast: fields are frosted while the raised design elements are mirror-bright.
It creates a distinctive visual effect that is easy to distinguish from a regular proof once you know what to look for. No guide price is currently listed for this version, so value depends on individual assessment of authenticated identity and condition.

San Francisco proof of the Pennsylvania polio vaccine dollar. Mirror fields, frosted devices, S mintmark on the edge.
The USA Coin Book guide estimate is about $15.00 at PR65. Proofs are sold directly by the Mint in sets, so most survivors are in excellent condition.
Any hairlines or haze across the fields will pull the grade down quickly compared to a business strike with similar-looking luster.

2019 Dollar — S — GA: Trustees Garden — proof

San Francisco proof of the Georgia Trustees Garden dollar. Mirror fields, frosted devices, S mintmark.
The USA Coin Book guide estimate is about $19.00 at PR65, which is the highest listed guide figure among the 2019 Innovation Dollar versions with available pricing. That distinction applies only at this specific grade and finish, based on currently available guide data.
Inspect the flat field areas around the garden design for hairlines, since these lower the grade on proofs.

2019 Dollar Error List
1. 2019 Dollar — Missing Edge Lettering
A missing edge lettering error means the incused date, mintmark, and motto that should appear around the coin's edge are completely absent. To check, hold the coin on its edge and rotate it slowly under good light.
Every 2019 Innovation Dollar should have incused text; if the edge is entirely plain and smooth, you may have this error.
Do not confuse this with an edge that has been filed or polished after leaving the mint. Post-mint damage usually leaves tool marks or an uneven surface.
Also keep in mind that pre-2009 Sacagawea dollars had plain edges by design, so make sure you are looking at a 2019 Innovation Dollar, not an older coin.
Value depends on the visibility of the error, the coin's condition, and the specific design involved. No specific price range is available for this error.
2. 2019 Dollar — Off-Center Strike
An off-center strike happens when the blank is not properly seated between the dies. The result is a design that is shifted to one side, leaving an unstruck crescent of bare metal on the opposite edge.
The more dramatic the shift, the more visually obvious the error.
For this error to be collectible, the date or enough design elements generally need to remain visible so the coin can still be identified as a 2019 Innovation Dollar. Do not confuse an off-center strike with a clipped planchet, which removes a section of the blank before striking, or with post-mint flattening or damage from a vise.
Condition, the degree of off-center displacement, and which design elements remain visible all affect value. No specific price range is available for this error.
3. 2019 Dollar — Doubled Die Obverse
A doubled die obverse shows consistent doubling in the design elements on the Statue of Liberty side of the coin. Look for separation, notching, or extra thickness on letters or Liberty's features.
The key word is consistent: every example struck from that die shows the same doubling in the same place.
Machine doubling is the most common lookalike. It produces a flat, shelf-like appearance rather than the distinct separation of a true doubled die.
Reflections, worn dies, and lighting angles can also mimic the effect to an untrained eye. Compare your coin to a normal example under the same lighting to spot genuine deviation.
Value depends on the strength and location of the doubling and the coin's overall condition. No specific price range is available for this error.
4. 2019 Dollar — Wrong Planchet / Off-Metal Strike
A wrong planchet error occurs when an Innovation Dollar is struck on a blank intended for a different denomination or even a different country's coin. The result is a coin with the correct 2019 design but the wrong weight, diameter, edge, or color.
To investigate, weigh your coin on a precision scale. A normal 2019 Innovation Dollar should weigh 8.10 grams in manganese-brass clad.
If the weight is significantly off and the design is fully or partially struck, you may have a wrong planchet strike.
Plated, corroded, or chemically altered coins are the most common lookalikes. Acid-treated coins can appear lighter and a different color.
Deliberate alterations also circulate. Authentication by a professional grading service is the reliable way to confirm this type of error.
No specific price range is available.
