2015 Presidential Dollar Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?
The 2015 Presidential Dollar series covers four presidents — Harry S. Truman, Dwight D.
Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B.
Johnson — across business strikes, San Francisco proofs and Philadelphia reverse proofs. Guide estimates for explicitly listed grades range from about $7.29 to $8.65, depending on version and finish.
Identifying your specific mint, design and finish is the first step before assessing any premium.
Fast Way to Identify Your 2015 Presidential Dollar
Upload clear photos of both sides of your coin, plus a shot of the edge lettering if possible. The edge carries the actual issue year, mintmark and motto — details that separate otherwise identical-looking dollars.
A preliminary identification from those images can help you figure out which of the 24 distinct 2015 versions you hold.

Which 2015 Presidential Dollar Versions Are Worth Money?
- S-mint proof versions (Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson) carry a guide estimate around $7.29 at PR65 — worth checking the mintmark on the edge.
- P-mint reverse proof versions from Coin and Chronicles sets (all four presidents) require individual assessment because no standard guide range is adopted; authenticated examples with clean surfaces may carry collector interest.
- Business strikes graded MS65 from either P or D mints have a guide estimate near $8.65, so preserving original luster matters.
- Edge lettering errors — weak, missing or doubled — are reported for 2015 and can affect value; inspect the full circumference carefully.
Step 1: Identify Your 2015 Presidential Dollar Mint Mark and Version

Start with the edge, not the face. The date "2015" and the mintmark (P, D or S) are incused into the rim, along with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The years shown beneath the portrait are presidential service dates, not minting years — a common point of confusion.
All 2015 Presidential Dollars are manganese-brass clad, weighing 8.10 grams. The obverse portrait tells you which president you have: Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy or Johnson.
Every coin shares the same Statue of Liberty reverse.
Business strikes come from Philadelphia (P) or Denver (D) in two edge-lettering orientations called Position A and Position B. This describes whether the edge text reads upright relative to the obverse or the reverse.
Both positions are normal production variants, not errors.
Proofs bear the S mintmark and show mirror-like fields with sharp detail. Reverse proofs, struck at Philadelphia, swap that contrast — frosted fields with mirrored devices.
These came in Coin and Chronicles collector sets. The dollar itself is still manganese-brass clad, even if the set included a silver medal alongside it.
Step 2: Check Your 2015 Presidential Dollar Grade

On business strikes, check the high points of the presidential portrait first: the cheekbone, hair above the ear and any raised lapel detail. These are the first areas to lose sharpness from circulation wear.
On the reverse, the Statue of Liberty's torch arm and crown rays show contact early.
A coin with full original luster and no visible wear sits in Mint State territory. If the cheek shows a flat spot or the hair strands merge, you are looking at About Uncirculated or below.
Use the comparison image to match your coin against circulated, AU and Mint State examples side by side.
Proof and reverse proof coins grade differently. Look for hairline scratches in the mirror fields — even light ones drop the grade.
Haze, fingerprints or milky toning also matter. A proof is a manufacturing finish, not a grade above Mint State, so keep those two concepts separate when evaluating your coin.
Step 3: Check 2015 Presidential Dollar Value by Mint and Version
2015 Presidential Dollar — P — Harry S. Truman — Position A

This is the Philadelphia business strike of the Harry S. Truman dollar with Position A edge lettering — meaning the incused text reads upright when the obverse faces you.
The portrait of Truman on the obverse and the Statue of Liberty reverse are shared across all four 2015 designs. At MS65, a USA Coin Book guide estimate places this version at about $8.65.
That is a guide figure, not a guaranteed offer. Confirm the "P" mintmark on the edge and check that the service dates beneath the portrait are not confused with the minting year.

2015 Presidential Dollar — P — Harry S. Truman — Position B

Same Philadelphia Truman dollar as Position A, but here the edge lettering is oriented as Position B — the incused text reads upright relative to the reverse. This is completely normal and not an error.
The two positions result from which direction the coin entered the edge-lettering machine. Guide value at MS65 is the same $8.65 estimate from USA Coin Book.
Look for full original luster and clean cheek detail to support that grade.

2015 Presidential Dollar — D — Harry S. Truman — Position A

Denver-minted Truman dollar, Position A. You will find a "D" mintmark on the edge rather than a "P." The design and weight are identical to the Philadelphia version.
A USA Coin Book guide estimate at MS65 is about $8.65. Circulated examples without original luster are worth face value in most cases.
Verify the mintmark by rotating the coin under good light and reading the full edge inscription.

2015 Presidential Dollar — D — Harry S. Truman — Position B

The Denver Truman dollar in Position B edge orientation. Again, Position B is a standard production variant — the incused edge text simply faces the opposite direction from Position A.
At MS65, the guide estimate sits at roughly $8.65 per USA Coin Book. As with all business-strike Presidential Dollars, condition is everything; a bag-marked or cleaned coin loses its modest premium quickly.

2015 Presidential Dollar — S — Harry S. Truman — proof

Struck at San Francisco with a proof finish, this Truman dollar has deeply mirrored fields and sharp, well-defined portrait details. The "S" mintmark appears on the edge.
USA Coin Book estimates this at about $7.29 in PR65. Proof coins were sold in collector sets, not released for circulation, so most survivors are in good shape.
Hairlines in the fields or hazy toning will reduce the grade. Handle by the edges only.

2015 Presidential Dollar — P — Harry S. Truman — reverse proof

The Philadelphia reverse proof Truman dollar came in the Coin and Chronicles set. A reverse proof flips the usual proof contrast: the fields have a frosted matte texture while the raised devices are mirror-bright.
Despite being packaged alongside other collectibles, the dollar itself is standard manganese-brass clad, weighing 8.10 grams.
No standard guide price range is adopted for this version. Value depends on the coin's authenticated identity, its surface condition and whether any striking errors are present.
If you believe you have one of these, professional authentication helps establish what it is and what it is worth on a case-by-case basis.

2015 Presidential Dollar — P — Dwight D. Eisenhower — Position A

Philadelphia Eisenhower dollar, Position A. The obverse shows Ike's familiar likeness, and the "P" mintmark sits on the edge along with "2015." A USA Coin Book guide estimate at MS65 is about $8.65.
Do not confuse the presidential service dates on the obverse with the actual minting year — only the edge date matters for attribution. Full mint luster and minimal contact marks support the MS65 grade level.

Same Philadelphia Eisenhower dollar, Position B edge orientation. The coin itself is identical in every other respect.
Guide estimate at MS65 remains roughly $8.65 per USA Coin Book. If you are sorting a roll, the quickest way to tell Position A from B is to hold the coin with the obverse facing you and read the edge: if "IN GOD WE TRUST" reads normally from that angle, you likely have Position A.

Denver-minted Eisenhower dollar in Position A. Check the edge for the "D" mintmark.
The manganese-brass clad composition gives these coins their distinctive golden color and 8.10-gram weight. Guide estimate at MS65 is approximately $8.65 from USA Coin Book.
Circulated pieces remain common and generally trade at face value unless they show an edge-lettering anomaly worth investigating.
Coin Value Lookup is a good starting point if you want to look up guides for other Presidential Dollar years or different coin series entirely.

2015 Presidential Dollar — D — Dwight D. Eisenhower — Position B

The Denver Eisenhower dollar with Position B edge lettering rounds out the D-mint business strike pair. At MS65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate is about $8.65.
Both Denver positions are equally common. The main thing that separates a face-value coin from one worth a small premium is preservation — original surfaces, no cleaning, no dings on the high points of Ike's portrait.

2015 Presidential Dollar — S — Dwight D. Eisenhower — proof

San Francisco proof Eisenhower dollar, showing mirror fields and crisp design elements. The "S" on the edge confirms its origin.
USA Coin Book places the PR65 guide estimate at approximately $7.29. Since proofs were distributed in sealed sets, many remain in excellent condition.
Even so, check for hairlines under magnification, because even brief unprotected handling can leave fine scratches that pull the grade below PR65.

2015 Presidential Dollar — P — Dwight D. Eisenhower — reverse proof

The Philadelphia reverse proof Eisenhower dollar was part of the Coin and Chronicles set. Its appearance inverts the standard proof look: frosty fields, mirrored devices.
The coin is manganese-brass clad — the same composition as every other 2015 Presidential Dollar — regardless of other items that may have accompanied it in the original packaging.
No adopted guide price is available for this version. Its value depends on authenticated identity, surface preservation and any errors present.
Individual assessment by a grading service is the practical path to establishing a market-relevant value.

2015 Presidential Dollar — P — John F. Kennedy — Position A

Philadelphia Kennedy dollar, Position A. The JFK portrait is instantly recognizable, and the "P" mintmark on the edge confirms the mint of origin.
At MS65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate is about $8.65. The presidential service dates on the obverse refer to Kennedy's time in office, not the year the coin was struck.
Look at the edge for "2015" to confirm you have the right year.

Philadelphia Kennedy dollar, Position B. Identical design and composition, just a different edge-lettering orientation.
Guide estimate at MS65 is the same $8.65 per USA Coin Book. Neither position is scarcer than the other in normal production.
Keeping the coin in its original uncirculated state — no cleaning, no fingerprints on the fields — is the simplest way to preserve any modest collector premium.

Denver-minted Kennedy dollar with Position A edge lettering. The "D" on the edge distinguishes this from the Philadelphia version.
USA Coin Book estimates about $8.65 at MS65. Kennedy dollars tend to attract casual collectors because of the portrait's popularity, but the business-strike versions remain common enough that only well-preserved examples carry a premium above face value.

2015 Presidential Dollar — D — John F. Kennedy — Position B

Denver Kennedy dollar, Position B. Same coin, flipped edge orientation.
Guide value at MS65 is roughly $8.65 from USA Coin Book. If your coin shows obvious wear on the cheek or hair — or if the golden color has dulled significantly from circulation — it is almost certainly worth face value only.
Pristine rolls are the usual source for coins that reach the MS65 threshold.

2015 Presidential Dollar — P — Lyndon B. Johnson — Position A

Philadelphia Lyndon B. Johnson dollar, Position A.
LBJ's portrait fills the obverse, and the Statue of Liberty appears on the reverse as usual. The edge carries "2015," the "P" mintmark and the standard mottos.
USA Coin Book places this at about $8.65 in MS65. Remember that the dates flanking the portrait refer to Johnson's presidency, not the coin's production year.

Denver-minted Johnson dollar in Position A. Check the edge for the "D" mintmark.
At MS65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate is roughly $8.65. These circulated widely in some regions and saw heavy use in vending machines, so truly pristine examples from Denver rolls can be a bit more satisfying to find than you might expect for a modern dollar.

2015 Presidential Dollar Error List
1. 2015 Presidential Dollar — Weak / Partial Edge Lettering
Weak or partial edge lettering on a 2015 Presidential Dollar means some of the incuse inscriptions — the date, mintmark, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" or "IN GOD WE TRUST" — appear unusually faint or incomplete compared to a normal example. To check, rotate the coin slowly under a strong light and examine the full circumference, comparing against a known good coin of the same year.
This is different from ordinary shallow lettering caused by normal wear or deliberate abrasion. On a genuine weak-edge error, the lettering was insufficiently impressed during the edge-lettering step, and the rest of the coin's surfaces typically look undisturbed.
No specific price range is adopted for this error; value depends on how visible the defect is, the coin's overall condition and which president and mint are involved.
2. 2015 Presidential Dollar — Missing Edge Lettering
A missing edge lettering error means the entire edge is smooth — no date, no mintmark, no mottos. The coin went through production without receiving the separate edge-lettering strike.
To verify, rotate the full circumference and compare side by side with a normal 2015 Presidential Dollar that has all its edge inscriptions present.
Because the date and mintmark live on the edge, a truly blank-edge coin cannot be attributed to a specific year by the edge alone. The distinctive presidential portrait for that year, or an attributed third-party holder, helps confirm it as a 2015 issue.
Watch out for coins whose edges have been deliberately filed or polished smooth — those show tool marks or an uneven surface. No adopted price range exists; value varies with condition, the severity of the error and authentication.
3. 2015 Presidential Dollar — Doubled Edge Lettering
Doubled edge lettering occurs when a 2015 Presidential Dollar passes through the edge-lettering machine twice, producing two overlapping or offset sets of incuse inscriptions around the circumference. You will see duplicate date numbers, duplicate mottos or duplicate mintmarks, often slightly shifted from one another.
Do not confuse this with Position A versus Position B. Those are single sets of lettering in different orientations and are perfectly normal.
A true doubled-edge coin shows clearly redundant text. Also rule out optical illusions from reflections or photographs taken at two different angles.
No specific price range is adopted for this variety; the value of a given example depends on how distinct the doubling is, the coin's condition and professional authentication of the error.
