2015 Sacagawea Dollar Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?
The 2015 Sacagawea Dollar features the Mohawk ironworkers reverse, and guide estimates for explicitly listed grades and versions range from roughly $6.26 to $26.00 depending on mint, finish and condition. These are guide estimates, not guaranteed offers, and not every coin reaches those figures.
Most circulation-strike examples trade near face value, but the S-proof and the scarce W enhanced uncirculated finish are the branches worth a closer look.
Fast Way to Identify Your 2015 Sacagawea Dollar
Upload clear photos of both sides of your coin and we can help with a preliminary identification. A front shot shows the Sacagawea obverse details, while the back confirms the Mohawk ironworkers design.
Edge lettering matters too, so a rim photo helps. This quick visual check is not authentication or exact grading, but it points you in the right direction.

Which 2015 Sacagawea Dollar Versions Are Worth Money?
- S-mint proof (PR65 guide estimate around $10.00 per USA Coin Book) — struck at San Francisco with contrasting mirrored fields and frosted devices, sold in collector sets.
- W-mint enhanced uncirculated — produced at West Point with a special surface finish; value depends on authenticated identity, condition and any errors present, so individual assessment is recommended.
Step 1: Identify Your 2015 Sacagawea Dollar Mint Mark and Version

Start with the edge. From 2009 onward, the date, mintmark and motto appear in incuse lettering around the rim rather than on the obverse.
Rotate your coin under good light and look for a P, D, S or W mintmark along with "2015." The golden color comes from a manganese-brass clad composition (88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel at 8.10 grams) — there is no gold content.
The reverse shows Mohawk ironworkers on a steel beam high above a city skyline. Every 2015 dollar carries this same design regardless of mint.
Position A versus Position B refers to the orientation of the edge lettering relative to the obverse. Hold the coin with Sacagawea facing you and the top of her head pointing up, then read the edge.
If the lettering reads normally from that orientation, it is Position A. If it reads upside-down, it is Position B.
Both positions exist for P and D mints.
The S-mint proof has mirrored fields and frosted devices, struck at the San Francisco Mint for collector sets. The W-mint enhanced uncirculated coin, produced at West Point, carries a distinct surface treatment that differs from both a standard business strike and a proof.
Do not assume a coin from a silver proof set is silver — the Sacagawea dollar in those sets is still manganese-brass clad.
Step 2: Check Your 2015 Sacagawea Dollar Grade

Focus on Sacagawea's cheek, the fine strands of hair above her forehead, and the infant on her back. On a well-preserved coin these areas show full original texture with no flattening.
As wear begins, the cheek loses its rounded definition first, followed by the hair detail.
On the reverse, check the ironworkers' clothing folds and the raised details of the steel beam. Light rub on the highest points drops a coin from Mint State into About Uncirculated territory.
For proof and enhanced uncirculated coins, grading is less about wear and more about handling marks, haze and whether the intended surface contrast is intact. A proof with hairlines across its mirrored field grades lower than one with clean surfaces, even though neither has been circulated.
Use the comparison image to see how a circulated piece, an AU example and a Mint State coin differ. Keep proof and special-finish coins in a separate mental category — you are comparing manufacture quality and preservation, not brightness alone.
Step 3: Check 2015 Sacagawea Dollar Value by Mint and Version
2015 Sacagawea Dollar — P — Mohawk ironworkers — Position A

The 2015-P Position A is a standard Philadelphia business strike with edge lettering reading normally when Sacagawea faces you right-side up. At MS65, a USA Coin Book guide estimate lists this version at $26.00 — noticeably above the other P-mint position.
This higher estimate corresponds to what the guide identifies as the enhanced finish listing, so confirm attribution carefully before assuming the premium applies to an ordinary strike.
All 2015-P dollars weigh 8.10 grams in manganese-brass clad. Check the edge for the "P" mintmark and verify the lettering orientation to distinguish Position A from Position B.

2015 Sacagawea Dollar — P — Mohawk ironworkers — Position B

The 2015-P Position B has edge lettering that reads upside-down when Sacagawea faces you right-side up. This is the standard Philadelphia circulation strike.
At MS65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate is $6.26. Most examples you encounter in change or bank rolls are this version or its Position A counterpart.
These are guide estimates, not guaranteed sale prices. In circulated grades, this coin spends at face value.

2015 Sacagawea Dollar — D — Mohawk ironworkers — Position A

The 2015-D Position A comes from the Denver Mint with edge lettering oriented normally relative to the obverse. At MS65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate is $6.26.
Denver strikes are common in circulation across much of the country.
Look for the "D" mintmark incused on the edge alongside the date and motto. Condition matters — a clean, mark-free example in original luster is always preferable to a scratched or toned coin at the same technical grade.

2015 Sacagawea Dollar — D — Mohawk ironworkers — Position B

The 2015-D Position B is the Denver Mint version with inverted edge lettering. The MS65 guide estimate from USA Coin Book is $6.26, identical to the Position A Denver coin.
Neither edge-lettering position for the D-mint carries a meaningful premium over the other at this point. Spent examples are worth one dollar.
For a slight premium above face, you need a coin that grades solidly into Mint State territory with minimal bag marks.

2015 Sacagawea Dollar — S — Mohawk ironworkers — proof

The 2015-S proof was struck at the San Francisco Mint for inclusion in annual proof sets. It features deeply mirrored fields against frosted raised devices — that sharp visual contrast is the hallmark of a proof finish.
At PR65, the USA Coin Book guide estimate is $10.00.
Despite sometimes appearing in silver proof sets alongside 90% silver quarters and dimes, this dollar is still manganese-brass clad. The golden color is the giveaway.
Handle proofs by the edge only; fingerprints on those mirror fields are permanent.
Coin Value Lookup is a handy starting point if you want to look up guide values for other Sacagawea dollar years or different coin series entirely.

2015 Sacagawea Dollar — W — Mohawk ironworkers — enhanced uncirculated

The 2015-W enhanced uncirculated dollar was produced at the West Point Mint with a special surface treatment that gives it a look distinct from both a regular business strike and a proof. These were sold in limited collector sets and carry the "W" mintmark on the edge.
No supported numeric guide estimate is available for this version in the current research. Value depends on authenticated identity, the preservation of that enhanced surface, and whether any mint errors are present.
Having the coin professionally attributed and graded is the best path to understanding what your specific example is worth. Treat the original packaging and any included certificate of authenticity as part of the coin's provenance.

2015 Sacagawea Dollar Error List
1. 2015 Sacagawea Dollar — Weak / Partial Edge Lettering
A weak or partial edge lettering error on a 2015 Sacagawea Dollar means the incuse date, mintmark and motto around the rim came out unusually faint or were only partially impressed. To check, rotate the full circumference under a strong light and compare each letter and digit against a normal 2015 example.
On an affected coin, some characters may be barely visible while others struck at full depth.
This differs from ordinary shallow lettering that can result from normal die wear across a long production run. Also rule out deliberate abrasion — someone filing or buffing the edge to fake an error.
A genuine weak-strike error shows consistent softness in the affected zone without tool marks.
No specific price range is adopted here. The value of a weak edge lettering error depends on how dramatic the weakness is, the coin's overall condition, and whether the error has been verified by a professional grading service.
2. 2015 Sacagawea Dollar — Missing Edge Lettering
A missing edge lettering error means the coin's rim is completely smooth — no date, no mintmark, no motto at all where incuse characters should appear. Rotate the entire edge and compare it side-by-side with a normal 2015 dollar.
Every required element is absent on a genuine missing-edge example.
Be careful with lookalikes. Someone can polish or file an edge smooth, and pre-2009 Sacagawea dollars had plain edges by design — so if you cannot see a date on the edge, confirm the year through the annual reverse design (Mohawk ironworkers for 2015) or through an attributed third-party holder.
No numerical price range is adopted for this error. Value hinges on the coin's condition, the completeness of the missing lettering and professional verification.
A coin with a filed edge is worth less than face value to most collectors, while a genuine Mint error can attract meaningful interest.
