1921 Peace Silver Dollar Coin Value: How Much Is It Worth?
The 1921 Peace Dollar is a one-year-only high relief design, and it draws serious collector attention for that reason alone. Guide estimates for business strikes range from about $224 in G4 to $4,109 in MS65, based on USA Coin Book figures — these are not guaranteed offers.
Two extremely rare proof finishes also exist for this date. Before you start dreaming about top dollar, you need to confirm your coin's finish, originality and actual grade.

The quickest way to start figuring out what you have is to upload clear photos of both the front and back of your coin. That gives us enough to offer a preliminary identification — the mint, design type and general condition.

Which 1921 Peace Silver Dollar Versions Are Worth Money?
- 1921 High Relief — matte proof: Extremely rare proof finish; requires professional authentication since ordinary luster does not establish proof status.
- 1921 High Relief — satin proof: Another extremely rare proof variety; individual assessment of authenticated identity and condition determines value.
- 1921 business strike in MS65: Guide estimate of $4,109 from USA Coin Book; original surfaces and sharp detail are essential at this grade level.
- 1921 business strike in lower grades: Even a well-worn G4 example carries a guide estimate around $224 thanks to the silver content and collector demand for the high relief type.
Step 1: Identify Your 1921 Peace Silver Dollar Mint Mark and Version

The 1921 Peace Dollar was struck only at Philadelphia, so there is no mintmark to hunt for. On later Peace Dollars you would check the reverse below ONE near the eagle's tail feathers for a D or S, but this year, nothing should be there.
All 1921 Peace Dollars use a high relief design — a deeper, more sculptural strike than the flatter relief adopted from 1922 onward. The obverse shows Liberty's radiate head facing left, and the reverse features a perched eagle with PEACE inscribed below.
The edge is reeded.
One thing that trips up newer collectors: the word TRVST on the reverse is spelled with a V instead of a U. That is intentional classical-style lettering, not a die error.
Do not pay extra for it.
The coin is 90% silver and 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams. Three distinct branches exist for 1921: the standard business strike, a matte proof, and a satin proof.
Telling them apart is mostly about surface finish, and the two proof versions are vanishingly rare — ordinary strong luster does not make a coin a proof.
Coin Value Lookup is a good starting point if you are trying to look up other dates or denominations in this series. You can find coin guides organized by year and type to help narrow things down.
Step 2: Check Your 1921 Peace Silver Dollar Grade

When grading a 1921 Peace Dollar, focus first on the hair detail over Liberty's ear and the smoothness of her cheek on the obverse. On the reverse, check the eagle's shoulder and wing feathers for flattening.
Here is the catch with high-relief coins: some central softness is a product of the strike itself, not circulation wear. A coin that looks weakly defined in the center may still be uncirculated if the luster is intact across the fields.
Look at the comparison image to see how a circulated example, an AU piece, and a Mint State coin actually differ.
Contact marks matter a lot on these large silver surfaces. Bag marks from storage at the mint are normal on business strikes and do not count as damage, but they will limit the grade.
Cleaned or polished coins lose their original surface texture and are graded differently — look for unnatural brightness or hairline scratches under light.
Step 3: Check 1921 Peace Silver Dollar Value by Mint and Version
1921 Peace Silver Dollar

The standard 1921 Peace Dollar is a Philadelphia business strike with no mintmark. It features the high relief design used only this year, making every genuine example a first-year type coin.
USA Coin Book guide estimates place it at about $224 in G4 and around $4,109 in MS65 — these are not guaranteed sale prices.
Original, unaltered surfaces matter here. Cleaned or polished coins lose much of their comparability to guide figures.
When evaluating yours, match the mint (Philadelphia, no mark), confirm the high relief design, and assess the grade honestly before anchoring expectations to a number.

1921 Peace Silver Dollar — High Relief — matte proof

The 1921 matte proof Peace Dollar is one of the rarest branches in the entire series. These were struck on specially prepared planchets at Philadelphia using polished dies, then given a matte finish — a granular, non-reflective surface that looks nothing like a typical business strike's cartwheel luster.
Do not assume your coin is one of these because it lacks the usual flashy shine. A dull or worn business strike is not a matte proof.
Authentication by a major grading service is essentially mandatory before any value discussion makes sense. No supported price range is available for this version; each coin's worth depends on its individually authenticated identity and condition.

Reliable grade-by-grade prices are not currently available. The current price feed has no usable grade-by-grade values for the Matte Proof. The separate Satin Proof table must not be used to price this finish.
1921 Peace Silver Dollar — High Relief — satin proof

The 1921 satin proof Peace Dollar is the other extremely rare proof finish for this date. Satin proofs display a smooth, silky luster that differs from both the matte proof's granular texture and a business strike's typical cartwheel effect.
The surfaces tend to be more uniform, without the heavy bag marks you see on coins that tumbled around in mint bags.
Like the matte proof, this is not something you can identify with confidence from appearance alone. Strong luster on a well-preserved business strike can fool you.
Professional authentication is the only reliable path. No numeric price range is adopted for this version — value hinges entirely on confirmed identity, condition and provenance.
